"Wild" is Unbelievable

"Wild" is unbelievable. This film tells the true story of Cheryl, on her 1100 mile hike through the Pacific Crest Trail. Over this hike she finds out and discovers things about herself she has been trying to figure out for years. Whether its because of how she got a divorce with her husband, Paul, played by Thomas Sadoski, or trying to get over her mother's death, or her fight through drugs. She is a very strong woman and she realizes this through her long, treacherous hike that changes her for the better.

This is easily Reese Witherspoon's best performance to date. She has been looking for her comeback for years since her incredible performance in "Walk the Line." In this film she completely becomes Cheryl and it is evident through her look, her accent, and how much she realizes is determined to finish her hike. She also plays herself presently, and her during her past. She nails this role so well, and it seems like she is deserving of all of the nominations so far. Laura Dern also was incredible in this film. As an audience member, you feel for her during this film. And we are wanting her to be ok and have a decent relationship with her daughter and son. This is an amazing role for her and she delivers in this film. The film is very well made, with many different hidden meanings throughout that is exciting to watch and keeps you on the edge of your seat. This is a great film for the holiday season.

"The Skeleton Twins" is a a Gripping and Hilarious Film.

"The Skeleton Twins" is a a gripping and hilarious film. It tells the story of Maggie, played by Kristen Wiig, and Milo, played by Bill Hader. They are both depressed and have not seen each other for ten years. After a suicide attempt by Milo, Maggie decides its best if Milo moves in with her and husband, Lance, played by Luke Wilson. It seems like Maggie and Lance have everything perfect, but deep down Maggie is dealing with depression problems all leading back to her childhood. As for Milo, he is in the same boat after he meets up with his love from his teenage years. It is a funny, heartwarming, and intense film.

This film is great because of all of the twists and turns all mixed in with Wiig's Hader's and Wilson's comedy. Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader have worked together before and they have such great chemistry on film, and it really shines through this film. This film has a dramatic taste on real life, and Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader do a great job in balancing the comedy and drama in this film and it really worked best for this film. These are tough roles for both of them because they are playing these hilarious people with a terrible past, and they really make it work so well. Also, Luke Wilson really nails his role so well. You feel for him in this film because he is a genuine husband that really cares for Maggie, and you feel bad for him towards the end. This film was a huge success at Sundance and it it is worth checking out.

"Foxcatcher" is Amazing

"Foxcatcher" is Amazing. It tells the true story of Mark Schultz, played by Channing Tatum. Schultz is an Olympic wrestler living in the shadow of his big brother Dave, played by Mark Ruffalo. Dave is much more popular than Mark but they are still extremely talented athletes. Dave is much more popular but Mark is ready to step into the spotlight. He gets a call from John du Pont, played by Steve Carrell, a wealthy man that sees a lot in Mark. John asks him to live with him and coach him for the upcoming Olympics. Mark accepts and realizes that his life completely changes when he makes this drastic change to his life.

This film is extremely well done. The cinematography was beautifully executed by how Du Pont was always shown as the dominant figure with the camera looking up at him. The best part of the film was to see how these characters were perfectly crafted. Mark Ruffalo and Channing Tatum did an amazing job portraying a wrestler's lifestyle by their walk, their stance, and how they portrayed all the aspects of being a wrestler. Steve Carrell completely outdid himself in this film, and it is easily his best role he has ever played. His complete transformation through his physique, and his voice makes him deserve an Oscar. It will be a toss-up for his role, and Michael Keaton's role in Birdman.

"Birdman" is Incredible

"Birdman" is a story about Riggan, a washed-up actor trying to relive his illustrious career after being the infamous superhero, Birdman. Riggan now directs and stars in a broadway play but he is trying to make sure this makes him relevant again. After one of his leads gets injured he has to decide who will replace him. The actor that falls into his lap is a brash, charismatic actor named Mike Shiner, played by Edward Norton. Mike is an arrogant actor but he is a big name that brings in audience members so Riggan keeps him. After a few previews of the play are successful Riggan finally feels content. Until his alter ego turns to him.

This film is probably one of the best films filled with amazing cinematography. 90% of this film, it seems like their are no cuts, the camera moves from place to place and follows each character, and it just so beautiful to watch. What also helps is the amazing cast that goes along with this film. Edward Norton is absolutely incredible in this film. He is so arrogant but how he portrays himself is so well done, and you can believe him because of how he describes himself in the film and how he can only really "perform" on the stage. Emma Stone was really good in this film also. She is really coming out of her comfort zone, and she is becoming one of the best young actresses. Zach Galifianakis really surprises audiences with his role in this film. He can clearly show how he can act extremely well by mixing his comedy with drama. Michael Keaton really did an amazing job for this role. He really deserves an Oscar for his role because of his transformation throughout the film. He really is one of the best actors of all time.

"St. Vincent" is a Great Film to See this Fall

"St. Vincent" is a great film to see this fall. It tells the story of Vince, played by Bill Murray. Vince is a drunk, mean older man trying to get through his mediocre life. After a terrible night, Vince gets a new neighbor, Maggie, played by Mellissa McCarthy, and her son Oliver, played by Jaeden Lieberher. Maggie is a single mother, working at a hospital, and still trying to take care of Oliver. After much reluctancy from Maggie and Vince, Maggie decides to let Vince babysit Oliver while she is at work. Because Oliver does not have a father figure, Oliver looks up to Vince regardless he is mean, rude, and not a great role model. Over time, Vince changes and we learn more behind his character, and how he transforms as a person.

This film is great because of the cast. Bill Murray is obviously great in his role. He really plays this role very well, because he is essentially himself. A rude, crude, but lovable guy because he means well, and he knows what to do in the end. He has a transformation throughout this film, and you can see it in his facial expressions his accent, after he has his stroke, and how he becomes this great person by the end. Melissa McCarthy is very surprising in this film. The last film she was in, was a terrible flop, called "Tammy." This film was a giant step-up. She broke out of her personality type for this role. She had some comedic moments, but she was very motherly, and fit this role very well. Jaden Lieberher had his first role in this film and he nailed it. His acting was impeccable, because he went from an innocent kid, into a person that became more mature, and really represented children whose parents are going a divorce very well. Some great supporting roles included Chris O'Dowd, because of his humor, and how great of a Catholic teacher he played. Another includes Naomi Watts, because of her constant need to try to do everything for herself, and her baby. This film is very well done, predictable at times, but the story is very entertaining, exciting, and it was great to watch the whole way through.

"Fury" is a Great War Film

"Fury" is a great war film. It tells the story of a five man crew trying to battle their way through WWII with their tank, "Fury." Brad Pitt's character leads the way as the Sergeant who is obsessed with violence, war, and taking down the enemy. His original crew members, Bible, played by Shia LaBeouf, Gordo, played by Michael Pena, and Coon-Ass, played by Jon Bernthal,, are on his side with the same objective. In the beginning of the film one of their gunman gets killed and is replaced by Norman, played by Logan Lerman. Norman is a very shy young kid trying to get through the experience every way he can. But overtime, his Sergeant helps him turn out to be a ruthless as him.

This film is very well made. It is a different kind of film because it is a war film. We first jump into the action in the first few scenes. We do not really learn much about the characters, but more on the setting and the situation the five men are in. However, the film has great effects, and the violence was pretty spot on. The best part about this film is the great cast. Brad Pitt and Michael Pena do an amazing job as always. Brad Pitt outdid himself and he was ruthless and cruel but we still loved him. Michael Pena does a very good job at having comedic moments but also knows how to become serious. Shia LaBeouf was actually great in this film. He provided a fantastic addition for this film and we felt for him throughout. Logan Lerman is very surprising in this film. He did a spectacular job because of his transformation. The shy, innocent Logan Lerman we have grown to love has a complete 180 towards the end which makes his role so exciting to watch. This is a great film to see.

"Gone Girl" is Riveting

"Gone Girl" is riveting. Nick, played by Ben Affleck, is trying to take each day by day with his wife, Amy, played by Rosamund Pike. After Amy goes missing one morning Nick is forced to do everything in his power to find his wife. But after the media gets a hold of the story problems arise and their story reveals some shocking discoveries about their marriage and how they both were feeling throughout their seven years together.  This intense thriller has twists and turns that is very exciting for any viewer.

This film is incredibly gripping and will keep you on the edge of your seat. Ben Aflleck's passionate acting throughout kept us interested. He has really had a great progression with his films. And really is considered one of the best actors still in the business. Carrie Coon does a great as Margo and we see her in terrible situations in the film but she nails it. Tyler Perry and Neil Patrick Harris also have great supporting roles for this film and step out of their comfort zone for their roles. One of the best roles of the film is Rosamund Pikes as Amy. Throughout the film we are wondering how she will end up, and we change our opinions throughout the film because of how amazing she is in this film. All in all, this film is very dark, and exciting and unexpected.

"The Drop" is worth checking out. Bob, played by Tom Hardy, is a bartender in Brooklyn. His partner, Marv, played by James Gandolfini, and Bob thinks things are ok in their bar because of their loyal customers and the system they have. The system of "dropping" money to lical gangsters seems to be working fine until a robbery occurs. Bob and Marv are targeted and they need to make sure they can protect themselves and their bar. While this is happening Bob adopts a dog and makes friends with a woman named Nadia, played by Noomi Ropace.

This film is worth watching because of the twists and great cast. This film keeps you on the edge of your seat because you are waiting for something exciting to happen and it does. It is an erry, dark but exciting gangster movie. James Gandolfini is great in this film because of his brash raw attitude, and we could really see how emotional he gets on screen. Noomi Ropace was a great addition to this film because if how innocent she really is. Tom Hardy's character was very timid and you were waiting for him to finally show a vast amount of emotion throughout but you are satisfied by the end. This film is worth checking out.

"The Graduate" is a Classic

I finally watched one of the best films ever made, "The Graduate." This film is one of the best directed, best edited, best acted, best written, and best shot selection I have seen in any film. Mike Nichols is one of the best directors of all time because of how we get sucked into a scene, and make us feel like we are there with the fact that the camera does not move and cut to a different scene for a long periods of time. I could spend on hours on talking about the symbolism in this film because there are countless amounts, and it is great to see a film that is amazing because of the hard work that was done to make it so amazing.

"What If" is a Great Romantic Comedy for the Summer

"What If" is a great romantic comedy for the summer. It tells the story of Wallace, played by Daniel Radcliffe. Wallace is a person that has run out his luck on love. His parents both cheated, and his girlfriend cheated on him. He is trying to find real, passionate love even though he is cynical about relationships. He forms a great friendship with Chantry, played by Kazan. Chantry is beautiful, funny, and charming, and gets a long well with Wallace. The only problem is that she has been in a relationship with Ben, played by Rafe Spall. So Wallace and Chantry have a close friendship and they try to have a friendship without anything physical.

This film is great mainly because its realistic for the most part. Wallace and Chantry have a great relationship, and it is normal for a male and female that are friends to even think dating or having sex, it is inevitable. Daniel Radcliffe and Zoe Kazan do a great job and they are absolutely adorable together. The cast also does a great job for this film, that is pretty accurate for sisters to act and talk about guys, and guys to talk about women. It is a funny, charming story that is exciting to watch.

R.I.P. Robin Williams

It is a tragedy that one of, if not the best actors of all time has lost us today. Robin Williams will be a legend in the dramatic and comedic genres for decades. He is one of the few actors that could play a dramatic and comedic role, and nail each and every one. His movies were so great, and it is a shame he has lost us so soon.

"Boyhood" is Incredible

"Boyhood" is incredible. This gripping tale tells the story of a boy named Mason, played by Ellar Coltrane. We first meet Mason when he is about six years old, and we see him grow up in Texas. Through multiple families, his mother and father going through a divorce, meeting new friends, going to new schools, and growing up we see him blossom into a fulfilling young man. It is touching to see how great he overcomes his struggles into becoming a a great person regardless of all of the struggles he endured. Having a strong balance of his mother, played by Patricia Arquette, and his father, played by Ethan Hawke, he figures out what he wants to do with his life.

This film is so great because of how much time passes, and how they portray it. The film takes place over 12 years but we are never told exactly what year it is. Through music, hairstyles, new settings, and aging of people we can see that  time has past. It is a gripping story of growing up. This film is extremely long, but you almost do not want it to end. The story is so exciting, and captivating, you want to know how it ends. And yes you are at the theater for almost three hours, but this film took about thirteen years to make, maybe even longer. It is deserving to watch how amazing, twelve years of somebody's family has turned out. This film is outstanding, and is a pleasure to watch.

"Guardians of the Galaxy" is a Great Film for the Summer

"Guardians of the Galaxy" is a great film for the summer. Peter "Starlord" Quill, played by Chris Pratt, is an outlaw of the galaxy. After stealing a powerful orb, every one wants to get their hands on it. He ends up being sent to one of the prisons that hold outlaws of the galaxy. There he meets a killer Raccoon, named Rocket, voiced by Bradley Cooper, a talking, moving tree, named Groot, played by Vin Diesel, Gamora, played by Zoe Saldana, and madman, named Drax, played by Dave Bautista. They team to form the Guardians of the Galaxy, to take down Ronan, who has his eyes et on destroying the entire galaxy with the orb.

This film is very exciting, and is a fast-paced roller coaster ride. The film takes place over a course of a few days. The film picks up very early with the countless amounts of comic relief, and amazing soundtrack. The soundtrack uses a lot of songs from the 60s, 70s, and 80s and it is really a key part to why the film is so well made. The cast was incredible in this film. The supporting roles included, Glenn Close, John C. Reilly, Benicio Del Toro, Karen Gillan, and many others. The main characters were obviously great. Dave Bautista and Vin Diesel, did decent jobs for their roles, and they added to the comic relief, and were the main reasons why the film was so funny. Bradley Cooper did an amazing job as Rocket, and it was great to see him do something different from the norm. Zoe Saldana and Chris Pratt were great together in this film, and they are really starting to blossom. This film is very exciting and worth your while.

"Lucy" is a Thrill Ride

"Lucy" is a thrill ride. Lucy, played by Scarlett Johansson, is an innocent young woman caught in a deadly drug deal. She is used for an experiment where a bag of synthetic drugs are forcibly inserted into her stomach. When the bag leaks, the drug changes her into a superhuman, basically. Slowly Lucy grows her central capacity. She goes through unimaginable changes that gives her the strength, and knowledge to take her down who captured her, with the help of Professor Norman, played by Morgan Freeman, also to discover what exactly is happening to Lucy.

This film is great because of how fast paced the film is, and the great cast. This film is only an hour and a half but it is so quick, that you don't even realize. The violence, and nonstop action will keep you interested throughout. This film is great mainly because of Morgan Freeman and Scarlett Johansson, they really carry the film very well. Morgan Freeman does a great job as a supporting role. He is one of the best actors of our generation, and his voice impeccable to listen to, and it was captivating when listening to the presentation he gave during the film. Scarlet Johansson is a very underrated actress. She is incredible, and I think people underestimate how good she is because of her beauty. yes she is absolutely gorgeous, maybe even the most beautiful woman in the world, but she is also an amazing actress and did a great job for this film.
