Things To Watch This Spring

Things to watch this Spring:

"Cesar Chavez": Although it didnot get good reviews, it should be amazing and Michael Pena is always amazing. It is based on a true story and it should be fantastic.

"The Railway Man": This Weinstein Company film with Nicole Kidman amd Colin Firth should one of their best.

"Godzeilla" This remake should be a remake for the ages, and Bryan Cranston is always amazing and should be as good as his role as Walter White on "Breaking Bad." It should also be great because the curiosity of the trailer makes the suspense even better.

"Red" is Incredible

"Red" is incredible. This is not the film with Helen Mirren and Morgan Freeman, this is a different film. This film tells a story of a simple man named Avery, played by Brian Cox. He loves to fish and spend time with his dog, and he is a very nice, and easygoing older man. One day three teens kill his dog. The leader of the three boys is Danny, played by Noel Fisher. Danny is a criminal and really had no reason to kill Avery's dog he just did it because he is just a bad kid. Avery is relentless on getting his revenge.

This film has two actors battling against each other. Brian Cox is incredible. He is incredible in his roles, and I am glad he is the star in this film because he usually has a supporting role. The best part of one of my favorite films, "Adaptation," has him yelling at Nicolas Cage. The scene really shows the passion he has in his films. Noel Fisher is amazing also. Fisher usually plays similar roles, a troubled kid trying to fight people. He is very good at it, and it is probably why he does similar roles. He is also on a show called "Shameless." He is incredible on the show because of his raw talent he brings towards this amazing show. This film is great and very underrated and you should see it.

R.I.P. James Rebhorn

One of my favorite supporting actors died last Friday. James Rebhorn has been in the business for over sixty years in films, television shows and broadway plays. He has been in many great films including "Scent of a Woman" "Independence Day" "Cold Mountain" and many others. He was also on "Homeland" and "Seinfeld." He died of melanoma on Sunday and he will be missed.

"Uncle Buck" is a Classic

"Uncle Buck" is a classic. Buck, played by John Candy, is asked by his brother and sister-in-law to take care of their three kids. Buck is a bachelor, and irresponsible all-around, but has a great heart. The three kids, his nieces and nephew are Tia, Maizy, and Miles. Tia, played by Jean Louisa Kelly, is a troubled teenager who does not like Buck whatsoever because of his snarky remarks and outrageous lifestyle. Maizy, played by Gaby Hoffman, is a dreamer and is a cute little girl that does not the best in school, and Miles, played by Macaulay Culkin, is smart but snarky but they both seemed to have a liking for Buck. Buck means well but Tia does not seem to think so.

This film is great mainly because of the genius behind John Hughes. John Hughes was lost from us too soon. His ability to create comedic characters was untouchable to most of the writers and directors during his generation. Buck Russell is a great character and John Candy did a great job because of his hilarious antics. John Candy is another person that was lost too soon. He was so funny in all of his roles but unfortunately he died so young at the age of 43. The main characters of this film went on to be great stars. Jean Louisa Kelly became a starring role on the hit sitcom, "Yes, Dear." Gaby Hoffman is still in films today, and Macaulay Culkin was in the hit series, "Home Alone" series. Unfortunately he has been able to bounce back from his child star persona but he was great in these films. This film is a classic comedy, and if you have not seen it, I recommend it.

"Dallas Buyers Club" is Phenomenal

"Dallas Buyers Club" is phenomenal. Ron Woodruff is a bull rider living in Texas. He is at the top of his game, and his life is going well for him. He is a great rider, and he is great with the ladies too. He soon finds out that his promiscuous lifestyle has caught up to him, because he gets diagnosed with HIV, and he is told he has thirty days to live. Ron denies this, and thinks he can overcome this. He then starts to research the disease, and figures out what he can do to himself, and others to try to fight the disease even without a career. He starts a business of dealing prescription drugs called, the Dallas Buyers Club.

This film is great mainly because of the cast. Jennifer Garner is great in this film. She plays a doctor who helps Ron in his time of need, and tries to help her patients fix the disease with Ron. Steve Zahn plays Officer Tucker, and he did a great job as a supporting role. The best parts of this film were the two winners of Oscars, Jared Leto and Matthew McConaughey. Jared Leto plays a transvestite named Rayon, and it was probably some of the best acting I have ever seen. He is incredible, at everything he does, and he deserved his Oscar. Matthew McConaughey was great also. He did not have that "wow factor" scene like in most roles of a "Best Actor" but he had the accent, and he also lost a ton of weight for his role. This film is great to watch, from start to end.

"300: Rise of an Empire" is Worth Seeing if you Liked the First One.

"300: Rise of an Empire" is worth seeing if you liked the first one. It tells the story of Themistokles, played by Sullivan Stapleton. He is the Greek general leading the seas to try to take down the much stronger and larger Persian navy. Persian navy is led by a beautiful but ruthless leader named, Artemisia, played by Eva Green. They are fighting while King Leonidas' and his 300 Spartans are trying to take down Xerxes. They soon find out what happens to them while in battle, and try to take down their mortal enemies.

This film is great but obviously not as good as the first film. Regardless it was very cool to see the visual effects throughout, and the violence. It is an awesome and violent film to watch but it is different than a regular war film with the visual effects. It is a manly film because of the blood, beautiful women, and war. It is a different action film that is enjoyable because it is unique from a regular action film i.e. "Fast and the Furious." It is worth watching because it is different from the first film, and if you are a fan of the first one it is worthwhile.

The Film/TV Industry is Booming

This week I went to Los Angeles. It is such a beautiful place, I am strongly considering moving there or New York. New York is now considered the place for films and TV shows.  And surprisingly, Atlanta is one of the best places also because many things are being filmed there including "The Walking Dead." It is a great business to be in, and it is one of the most exciting industries in the world, please go out and see more films and watch more shows, because there are a lot to choose from and most are worth watching.

Sunday, March 9, 2014

Hello everyone, I am taking a week off because I will be going to Los Angeles this week. I am going to a convention with people in the tv and film business, and I will try to network with them. I hope you have a good week.

"Frozen" is a Great Animated Film for Disney

"Frozen" is a great animated film for Disney. It tells the story of Anna, voiced by Kristen Bell, trying to find her lost sister,  Queen Elsa, voiced by Idina Menzel. With the help of Kristoff, voiced by Jonathan Groff, and Olaf, voiced by Josh Gad, they try to find Queen Elsa to make sure their kingdom is not stuck in an eternal winter.

This film is great, and of the best animated films made by Disney. I do not believe it is as good as "The Lion King," but it is one of their best. Kristen Bell is a great actress. She has not been in the best films but I do believe she did a great job for this film, and she sang very well also. She has really became a great actress throughout her career, and "The Lifeguard" was the main reason why. Idina Menzel is an amazing performer, and singer and she did great as Elsa for this film. It is a shame that her talent did not resinate when she was performing at the Oscars, but she is still great. Josh Gad is an amazing actor. Olaf is one of the best characters in this film. He has really became a great actor, whether it is on Broadway or on screen. He was extremely funny in this film, and I am excited to see where his career takes him. This film is not only for kids, it is a great animated that should be viewed for any age.

Ellen Degeneres was amazing on the Oscars last sunday

Ellen Degeneres was amazing on the Oscars last sunday. She finally made the Oscars, funny, not serious, and not dragging on. She is a hilarious comedian and I am glad she finally made the Oscars, a more relaxing, and hilarious event.

The Oscars last night was great.

The Oscars last night was great. Ellen Degeneres was hilarious, and brought a new energy to the Oscars. She had a nonchalant, sarcastic, and relaxed way of making the ceremony move along smoothly. With "Gravity" stealing seven Oscars, this film was the winner of the night.

This film was exciting, powerful, and gripping, and it deserved the awards that it was given. Original Screenplay and Adapted Screenplay awards were given to the rightful owners. Spike Jonze did a spectacular job for "Her and it was probably the best written film he has ever made. John Ridley wrote a gripping story from Solomon Northup's courageous life he endured, these awards were well deserved.

Best Directing was probably the only steal I saw last night. Every nominee made amazing films. I do think maybe Martin Scorsese or Steve McQueen or David O. Russell could have won but Obviously the Academy disagreed with me. I was surprised to see that "Philomena" "Captan Phillips" "Nebraska" "American Hustle" and "The Wolf of Wall Street" did not win any awards whatsoever, regardless they were amazing films.

Lupita Nyong'o deserved her award, regardless Jennifer Lawrence and Sally Hawkins were close contenders. But Lupita really had a powerful performance and was deserving for award.

Jared Leto is incredible. He might be one of the best performers ever. While making "Dallas Buyers Club" he toured with "30 Seconds to Mars." And not only that, his performance in "Dallas Buyers Club" was impeccable. He is unbelievable, how talented he is, and I was happy that he won.

Cate Blanchett was incredible in "Blue Jasmine" I was not surprised that she won Best Actress. Amy Adams or Judi Dench could have pulled an upset, but Cate Blanchett was too good.

Best Actor I had some problems with. Matthew McConaughey was incredible in "Dallas Buyers Club" but he has only been in a few good films. The other nominees, including Leonardo Dicaprio and Christian Bale consistently make great films and have amazing roles in them. Matthew McConaughey is not my favorite actor, and I like the other actors in this category.  Regardless McConaughey won the award and Leonardo Dicaprio is still considered one of the most underrated actors in Hollywood. Some people say he is not but he has not won an Oscar for any of his roles, and he is still underrated because of that reason.

Best Picture I was happy with. "12 Years a Slave" is an incredibly gripping story. Chiewetel Ejiofor did an amazing job for his role, and he deserved recognition for his role. Steve McQueen did an impeccable job for this film, and deserved his nomination for Best Director. Every film that was nominated was deserving and "12 Years a Slave" came out on top.

This Oscars was great, and I am satisfied with most of the outcomes. The ultimate winner is "Gravity" regardless that they did not win Best Picture. It was an amazing ceremony and I hope everyone liked it also.
