"Uncle Buck" is a Classic

"Uncle Buck" is a classic. Buck, played by John Candy, is asked by his brother and sister-in-law to take care of their three kids. Buck is a bachelor, and irresponsible all-around, but has a great heart. The three kids, his nieces and nephew are Tia, Maizy, and Miles. Tia, played by Jean Louisa Kelly, is a troubled teenager who does not like Buck whatsoever because of his snarky remarks and outrageous lifestyle. Maizy, played by Gaby Hoffman, is a dreamer and is a cute little girl that does not the best in school, and Miles, played by Macaulay Culkin, is smart but snarky but they both seemed to have a liking for Buck. Buck means well but Tia does not seem to think so.

This film is great mainly because of the genius behind John Hughes. John Hughes was lost from us too soon. His ability to create comedic characters was untouchable to most of the writers and directors during his generation. Buck Russell is a great character and John Candy did a great job because of his hilarious antics. John Candy is another person that was lost too soon. He was so funny in all of his roles but unfortunately he died so young at the age of 43. The main characters of this film went on to be great stars. Jean Louisa Kelly became a starring role on the hit sitcom, "Yes, Dear." Gaby Hoffman is still in films today, and Macaulay Culkin was in the hit series, "Home Alone" series. Unfortunately he has been able to bounce back from his child star persona but he was great in these films. This film is a classic comedy, and if you have not seen it, I recommend it.

Grade = 85/100 = B
