"Swimming with Sharks" is a Great Example of Film Noir

"Swimming with Sharks" is a great example of Film Noir. It tells the story of Guy, played by Frank Whaley. Guy is an assistant to one of the biggest Hollywood producer, Buddy Ackerman, played by Kevin Spacey. Buddy is an abusive, conceited, pompous, angry, offensive producer that takes it out on Guy anyway he can. But he keeps reiterating that after the ridicule there will be success. Guy is not happy with his situation until he starts seeing Dawn, played by Michelle Forbes. Dawn is a producer and she is very powerful, attractive and starts to like Guy. The only problem Dawn and Buiddy has had a past, and it effects what is to come for the three of them.

This film is great to watch until the end. It is hilarious to watch how insanely offensive Kevin Spacey's character is. He is a womanizer, and treats everyone under him like dirt. Most of the film he tells Frank Whaley's character he "does not have a brain", or "you're happy I hate that." It is exciting, gripping, and it is one of Kevin Spacey's best characters. He is meaner in this film as the boss as in "Horrible Bosses." He is an amazing actor and his career shows for it. Frank Whaley does an amazing job for this film, and it skyrocketed his career. It is an amazing film to watch.

Grade = 85/100 = B
